Three new Feadships featuring Akerboom Yacht Equipmentm, and one refit project are nominated for the BOAT International World Superyacht Awards 2026. The nominations follow a strong year at the BOAT International Media Design & Innovation Awards and underline the technical depth, innovation and close collaboration behind these projects.
The nominated yachts include M/Y Moonrise 2, for which Akerboom delivered 26 equipment items, including a standout swimlift; M/Y Valor, featuring 12 items and a newly developed, innovative watertight Stair Access Hatch; and M/Y Breakthrough, where the integration of two platforms positioned directly next to each other presented a significant engineering challenge—requiring Akerboom to think outside the box. All three yachts were designed by De Voogt Naval Architects, with whom Akerboom shares a long‑standing and highly valued collaboration.

M/Y Valor – Innovation in Detail
M/Y Valor previously received a special Judges’ Commendation at the BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards and was a prominent presence during the Monaco Yacht Show. The yacht now continues its awards journey with its nomination for the BOAT International Media World Superyacht Awards 2026.
Akerboom delivered all hydraulic yacht equipment for M/Y Valor and acted as a one‑stop shop throughout the project. Working closely together with De Voogt Naval Architects, Akerboom engineered the largest tender doors ever installed on an 80‑metre Feadship, using a slide‑out principle to maximise the clear opening while minimising space within the hull.
Additional deliveries included mooring platforms, overhead sliding cranes, tender hatches, beach platforms and a crew door, all engineered, produced and tested to meet class requirements. The yacht also features a folding gangway with flush teak, a swimlift with platform, and innovative transom access hatches integrated into the stairs, which are watertight when closed and slide inside when open.

M/Y Breakthrough – Engineering Challenges at the Forefront
Following its success at the BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards 2025, where it won three awards, and the Ship of the Year Award 2025 in the Netherlands, M/Y Breakthrough continues to draw attention for its forward‑looking engineering solutions.
Akerboom’s contribution focused on a complex hull solution in which two platforms were positioned extremely close together. The challenge was resolved by combining both platforms into one large welded hull module, developed through close collaboration between Akerboom Yacht Equipment, De Voogt Naval Architects, Royal Van Lent Shipyard, NMC – Shipyard & Construction Company and Scheepswerf Slob. The completed module was transported by water from Leiden to Rotterdam, highlighting Akerboom’s long‑standing logistical capabilities along the River Rijn.

M/Y Moonrise 2 – Seamless Integration and Open Spaces
Also nominated for the BOAT International World Superyacht Awards 2026, M/Y Moonrise 2 builds on the legacy of the original M/Y Moonrise, delivered by Feadship in 2020 as hull number 1008.
Acting as a one‑stop shop, Akerboom delivered all equipment solutions on board the custom‑built yacht. Together with De Voogt Naval Architects, Akerboom was involved from the earliest stages of exterior design, translating the client’s wish for open spaces and seamless boarding into reliable, crew‑friendly solutions.
In total, Akerboom delivered 14 watertight solutions, including six platforms, five hatches and three doors, all class‑approved, hydraulically operated and equipped with control and back‑up systems. Additional deliveries included tender limousine storage with a large tender hatch and beam cranes, silent closed‑loop shaftlines, rescue boat systems, life‑raft racks, a retractable foremast, a retractable boat boom and seven large composite hatches.
Since delivery, the Akerboom Global Service Network has supported the yacht with maintenance in 2023 and 2024, with a further service period planned ahead of summer 2026.
