Founded in 1860 as a small shipyard crafting wooden boats, Akerboom has grown into a leader in yacht equipment. Joining the Royal De Vries Group in 1986, we became integral to producing equipment for Feadship’s world-renowned superyachts.     Fifteen years after her delivery, the Feadship M.Y. Kahalani continues to exemplify the enduring quality of Dutch craftsmanship — both in design and performance. Akerboom Yacht Equipment, as the Original Equipment Manufacturer, is proud to have played a role in that legacy from the beginning, supplying key systems including the gangway, transom hatch, and shaft line.

    Among our valued clients is MY Mirage, Feadship build number 621—a vessel that holds a special place in Akerboom’s history. This yacht represents a significant milestone: it was the first project where Akerboom, after decades of crafting water-lubricated propeller shaft installations for working vessels, introduced an oil bath shaft system.

    In 1993, Akerboom delivered the yacht equipment on a Feadship of remarkable technical sophistication— “Double Haven”, Building Number 647, designed to explore the coastlines of Australia and the Indonesian Archipelago. Acting as a mother ship, its purpose was to enable coastal exploration, with an 8-meter-long catamaran tender, aptly named "Double Happiness," facilitating beachside activities such as barbecues and camping.
